Every time somebody visits your website we use in-house code to detect which type of browser that particular visitor is using and then display the correct website layout for that visitor. If a website is not mobile-ready, then the user will see the website in a scewed format (when viewing through a phone) that does not fit on the small screen. This means the user will have to do lots of zooming in and scrolling in all directions in order to simply see text, navigation buttons and images.

Mobile formatted websites are displayed in a single column which alone removes the issue of left and right scrolling. The fonts are sized correctly so zooming is not necessary either. Navigation is usually presented clearly in a larger format for those with larger fingers and thumbs which removes the chance of error. Also forms are presented in a much simpler format where everything is much easier to enter.

One last thing to not about a mobile or smartphone compatable website is that there are not usually as many images as there would be on a desktop version of the same website. This helps with loading speeds if the users smartphone is using 3G or 4G if Wifi is not available.

Tablet and iPad Website Design

The release of the iPad changed everything about the way we browse the internet. Other companies have tried to keep up and rival the phenomenon thus creating a whole new concept of personal compter. The convenience of a tablets size makes it the perfect tool to browse websites, social network and email.

iPad Detection does exactly what it says on the tin! We program a website to firstly detect the device, then secondly detect which way the iPad is orientated. If it is in landscape mode we will display the site in landscape mode whilst if it's in portrait mode it displays in portrait!
