Autotrader mobile searches boom in January

Auto Trader mobile announced it achieved 2.2 million unique customers in the month of January 2012 which represents 150% growth in car searches via mobile in the past year.

eBay recently identified Motors as one of its core sale categories as they also expects billions of pounds worth of sales to be generated via mobile technology throughout 2012. eBay’s Clare Moore-Bridger said buying and selling cars through mobile had been surprising as “People don’t expect our customers to be willing to buy cars using their phones, but we have sold Bentleys and Porsches through mobile in the UK.”

eBay have upgraded its motoring mobile app to enable people to search for a vehicle by taking a picture of it.

Therefore, Auto Trader is now competing with eBay to retain its place in the mobile market

The recent advances Auto Trader have made in regards to their mobile application website are a positive move and its surprising that no dedicated motoring company seems to come close in competing with them.
